Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website and services operated by Compra Moves ("we," "us," or "our"), a moving and junk removal company based in Tennessee. By requesting a quote, booking a service, or using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Please read these Terms carefully before using our services. If you do not agree, do not use our website or book a service. For questions, contact us at [email protected] or (615) 239-1555.
1. Services
Compra Moves provides residential and commercial moving services, junk removal, property cleanouts, painting, home installation and handyman services, and furniture delivery and assembly throughout Middle Tennessee. The specific scope of services for each job is agreed upon at the time of booking or confirmed in writing prior to the appointment.
We reserve the right to decline or discontinue any service request at our discretion, including requests involving unsafe conditions, inaccessible locations, or items we are unable to legally or safely transport.
Services described on our website are subject to availability. Scheduling is confirmed only after you receive a booking confirmation from us directly and the required deposit has been received.
2. Quotes & Pricing
Quotes provided by phone, text, or online form are estimates based on the information you supply. A final, binding price is provided on-site before any work begins, once our crew has assessed the actual scope of the job. No work will commence until you have accepted the on-site quote.
Pricing is based on the volume of items to be removed, accessibility of the property, number of flights of stairs, and any special handling requirements. Additional charges may apply if the actual scope of work differs materially from what was described at the time of the initial quote.
Compra Moves is committed to transparent pricing. We do not charge hidden fees. Any charges beyond the agreed-upon scope — including additional services, labor, materials, or unforeseen conditions — will be communicated to you and approved before proceeding whenever reasonably possible.
3. Rates
Rates vary by service type. The following outlines what is and is not included in standard pricing for each service we offer.
Moving Services
Rates include the use of plastic wrap and furniture pads, as well as basic disassembly and reassembly of standard furniture items necessary for the move. Rates do not include boxes or packing materials. If packing services or boxes are required, they must be requested prior to the scheduled service date and may incur additional charges.
The assembly of new furniture must be disclosed prior to the moving date and will incur an additional assembly fee. Rates include basic valuation coverage of $0.60 per pound per article, subject to the valuation terms described in Section 4.
Junk Removal Services
Junk removal rates are provided as either a fixed-price estimate or individual item pricing, depending on the size and scope of the project. Project pricing is based on the information provided by the customer, including the type, quantity, volume, weight, accessibility, and condition of the items to be removed. Rates include labor, loading, transportation, and disposal of approved items unless otherwise stated in writing.
Additional charges may apply if the actual volume, weight, labor requirements, accessibility conditions, disposal requirements, or quantity of items differ from the information provided at the time of the estimate.
Painting Services
Painting rates are based on the agreed-upon scope of work and are provided as a project-based price unless otherwise stated in writing. Additional charges may apply for customer-requested changes, additional work, unforeseen surface conditions, repairs, or services not included in the original scope. Paint and materials may be supplied by either the customer or Compra Moves as agreed upon prior to the project.
Home Installation & Handyman Services
Home installation and handyman service rates are based on the agreed-upon scope of work and are provided as a project-based price unless otherwise stated in writing. Additional charges may apply if additional labor, materials, repairs, hardware, customer-requested changes, or unforeseen conditions are discovered after work begins. Hardware, mounting equipment, fixtures, and materials may be supplied by either the customer or Compra Moves as agreed upon prior to service.
Furniture Delivery & Assembly Services
Furniture delivery and assembly rates are based on the information provided by the customer, including the type, quantity, size, weight, delivery location, assembly requirements, and accessibility of the items being delivered. Rates may include delivery, transportation, assembly, placement, and removal of packaging materials as outlined in the agreed-upon scope of work.
Additional charges may apply for multiple flights of stairs, long carrying distances, elevator restrictions, missing or damaged hardware, complex assembly requirements, customer-requested changes, additional items not disclosed prior to service, or services outside the original scope of work.
4. Valuation Coverage (Moving Services Only)
As part of your move, we provide basic protection for your belongings at no additional charge, known as 60-cent valuation. This means that if any of your items are damaged or lost during the move, we will reimburse you $0.60 per pound of the item's weight. For example, if an item weighs 10 pounds, the maximum reimbursement would be $6.00.
While this coverage is included at no cost, it may not fully cover the replacement value of valuable or fragile items. Higher valuation coverage options may be available at an additional cost based on the declared value of the items. Any request for additional valuation coverage must be made prior to the service date.
Basic valuation coverage is subject to standard liability limitations as described in Section 12 of these Terms. Valuation coverage applies only to moving services and does not extend to junk removal, painting, handyman, or delivery services.
5. Billing Policy
Billing policies vary depending on the type of service performed. The policies below apply only to the service selected by the customer.
Moving Services
Compra Moves operates on a dispatch-to-completion billing structure. Billing begins when the crew departs to the customer's service location and ends upon completion of the job at the final destination. Unlike many moving companies,Compra Moves does not charge return-to-base ("port-to-port") time, nor are separate travel fees added.
Moving services are billed based on the actual time required to complete the move. Time estimates provided prior to service are estimates only and are not guarantees of the final billable hours. Customers should not interpret estimated hours as a fixed quote or guaranteed final price. If additional labor, services, packing, furniture disassembly, assembly, stairs, long carrying distances, undisclosed items, or other unforeseen conditions are encountered, additional billable time may be required.
Junk Removal Services
Junk removal services are billed based on the agreed-upon estimate, project scope, or individual item pricing provided prior to service. If the actual quantity, volume, weight, accessibility, labor requirements, or scope of work differs from information provided at the time of the estimate, additional charges may apply. Customers are responsible for ensuring all items intended for removal are clearly identified prior to service.
Painting Services
Painting services are billed based on the agreed-upon project scope and pricing. The project price includes only the areas, surfaces, preparation, materials, and services specifically outlined in the estimate or proposal. Normal working conditions assume areas are reasonably accessible, free from significant damage, and ready for standard preparation and painting. Additional charges may apply for customer-requested changes, additional surfaces, extensive preparation, repairs, water damage, wallpaper removal, color changes after work has begun, or unforeseen conditions discovered after work begins.
For projects requiring Compra Moves to purchase paint, supplies, or materials on behalf of the customer, such costs may be invoiced separately and remain the responsibility of the customer in accordance with the Payment and Cancellation sections of these Terms.
Home Installation & Handyman Services
Home installation and handyman services are billed based on the agreed-upon project scope and pricing. Normal working conditions assume all required products, hardware, accessories, and materials are available at the time of service and that installation surfaces are suitable for the intended work. Additional charges may apply for customer-requested changes, missing hardware, additional materials, unforeseen site conditions, concealed obstacles, structural limitations, accessibility issues, or services outside the original scope of work.
Furniture Delivery & Assembly Services
Furniture delivery and assembly services are billed based on the agreed-upon project scope and pricing. Normal working conditions assume all furniture components, hardware, instructions, and accessories required for assembly are available at the time of service and that delivery and assembly locations are reasonably accessible. Additional charges may apply for customer-requested changes, multiple flights of stairs, long carrying distances, elevator restrictions, missing hardware, damaged components, additional assembly requirements, inaccessible areas, return trips, or services outside the original scope of work.
If an item cannot be delivered, moved, assembled, or placed due to size restrictions, access limitations, building restrictions, insufficient clearance, or other site conditions, the customer remains responsible for the agreed-upon delivery and labor charges. The inability to complete delivery or placement due to fit, clearance, access, or space limitations shall not constitute grounds for a refund.
Customer-Provided Information
All estimates, project pricing, labor requirements, scheduling, and service recommendations are based upon information provided by the customer. Failure to disclose relevant information, site conditions, access restrictions, additional items, special requirements, or changes in scope may result in additional charges, scheduling delays, or modifications to the services provided. Estimates based on photographs, videos, virtual consultations, or other remote information are provided using the information available at the time of the estimate and may be adjusted upon actual site assessment.
6. Estimates
All estimates provided by Compra Moves are based on the information supplied by the customer and assume normal working conditions. Estimates are intended to provide a reasonable projection of cost, labor, materials, and time requirements. All estimates are non-binding unless otherwise stated in writing. Actual costs may vary based on site conditions, accessibility, labor requirements, materials, customer-requested changes, or other factors discovered during the course of the project.
Moving Services
Normal working conditions assume all items are fully packed and ready for transport, furniture is disassembled where necessary, access is ground floor to ground floor, no additional handling or staging is required, and the inventory accurately reflects the items being moved. Additional labor, packing, stairs, elevators, long carries, staging requests, undisclosed items, or customer-requested services may increase billable hours and final costs.
Junk Removal Services
Normal working conditions assume all items intended for removal have been accurately disclosed, items are reasonably accessible, no hazardous materials are present, no significant disassembly is required, and safe access to the removal area is available. Additional labor, disposal fees, inaccessible items, undisclosed materials, excessive weight, or special handling requirements may increase final costs.
Painting Services
Normal working conditions assume surfaces are reasonably accessible, areas are free from significant damage, standard preparation is sufficient, paint colors and finishes have been selected, and no hazardous materials, mold, lead paint concerns, or major repairs are present. Additional preparation, repairs, water damage remediation, wallpaper removal, hidden conditions, or out-of-scope services may increase project costs.
Home Installation & Handyman Services
Normal working conditions assume required products, hardware, and materials are available, installation surfaces are suitable for the intended work, no hidden wiring, plumbing, or structural limitations exist, and the installation location has been selected prior to arrival. Concealed obstacles, missing hardware, customer-requested changes, structural conditions, or additional materials may increase project costs.
Furniture Delivery & Assembly Services
Normal working conditions assume all furniture components, hardware, instructions, and accessories are available, delivery and assembly locations are reasonably accessible, items will fit through doorways, hallways, stairwells, and into the intended location, and no significant disassembly, modifications, or special equipment are required. Inaccessible locations, missing hardware, damaged components, manufacturer defects, return trips, or fit and clearance issues may increase final costs.
7. Payment
Payment is due upon completion of services unless otherwise agreed in writing prior to the time of your appointment. We accept cash, major credit cards, Venmo, ACH transfers, and other approved electronic payment methods. Personal checks, business checks, bonds, promissory notes, or other forms of deferred payment are not accepted unless expressly approved in writing by Compra Moves. For jobs booked and paid online, payment is processed at the time of booking through our secure payment provider.
Customers are responsible for ensuring payment is available upon completion of service. If payment is not received at the time of service completion, we reserve the right to pursue collection through lawful means, including recovery of reasonable attorney's fees and costs as permitted under Tennessee law.
Chargebacks, declined payments, payment disputes, stop-payment requests, or other attempts to reverse valid charges may result in additional fees, collection efforts, legal action, and recovery costs to the extent permitted by law.
All prices are in U.S. dollars. Applicable taxes, if any, will be itemized separately.
8. Cancellation & Rescheduling
Deposits & Scheduling
A deposit is required for all services to reserve a service date and time. Deposit amounts vary based on the size and scope of the project, with a minimum deposit of $100. Deposits are applied toward the final invoice upon completion of the service. Scheduled appointments are not confirmed until the required deposit has been received.
Cancellations
Cancellations made more than 48 hours prior to the scheduled service date are eligible for a full deposit refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled service date will result in forfeiture of the deposit. The cancellation period is calculated based on the originally scheduled service date and time.
Rescheduling
Customers may request to reschedule services subject to availability. Approved reschedules may allow deposits to be transferred to a new service date at the discretion of Compra Moves. Repeated rescheduling requests, last-minute reschedules, or scheduling changes that significantly impact operations may be treated as cancellations and may result in forfeiture of the deposit.
Materials & Special Orders
For projects requiring Compra Moves to purchase materials, supplies, paint, hardware, fixtures, or other project-related items prior to the scheduled service date, the customer agrees to reimburse Compra Moves for the cost of any materials purchased on their behalf. Material costs are separate from deposit forfeiture and remain the responsibility of the customer regardless of cancellation timing. If a project is canceled after materials have been purchased, the customer remains responsible for the cost of such materials. Non-returnable, custom-order, tinted, mixed, or otherwise non-refundable materials shall remain the financial responsibility of the customer.
How to Cancel or Reschedule
To cancel or reschedule, contact us by phone at (615) 239-1555 or by email at [email protected]. Cancellations submitted only through online forms are not guaranteed to be received in time — please call if your appointment is within the notice window.
If we need to cancel or reschedule due to circumstances on our end, such as crew illness, vehicle issues, or severe weather, we will contact you as soon as possible and prioritize rescheduling at your earliest convenience at no additional charge.
9. Property Access & Customer Responsibilities
You are responsible for ensuring our crew has safe and legal access to the property at the scheduled appointment time. This includes unlocking gates, disabling alarms if needed, and ensuring pathways are clear of hazards.
You are responsible for clearly identifying all items to be removed before work begins. Once items have been loaded and removed from the property, we cannot retrieve or return them. We are not liable for the removal of items that were not intended for removal if they were not clearly separated or identified prior to the start of the job.
If our crew arrives and cannot safely access the property or begin work due to conditions outside our control, the visit may be treated as a cancellation and the applicable cancellation policy may apply.
10. Prohibited Items
We are unable to transport or dispose of the following items under any circumstances:
- Hazardous materials including gasoline, motor oil, paint, solvents, and pesticides
- Propane tanks, compressed gas cylinders, or flammable materials
- Asbestos-containing materials
- Medical waste, biohazardous materials, or sharps
- Explosives or ammunition
- Radioactive materials or other regulated substances
- Any item prohibited from disposal under Tennessee state or local regulations
If prohibited items are discovered during a job, we reserve the right to leave them on-site and adjust the scope and pricing of the job accordingly. Removal may be refused and additional charges may apply for delays or additional labor incurred. You are responsible for the lawful disposal of any prohibited items.
If you are unsure whether an item can be removed, contact us before your appointment and we will advise accordingly.
11. Stipulations
The following stipulations apply by service type. Please read the section(s) applicable to your scheduled service carefully before your appointment.
Moving Services
- We do not move items over 500 lbs — including but not limited to pianos, pool tables, and gun safes — unless they are disclosed prior to the scheduled move. Failure to disclose such items may result in an additional heavy item fee.
- All pressed wood and particle board furniture can be moved; however, it will be transported on an "At Your Own Risk" basis due to the structural limitations of these materials.
- Items such as glass, marble, artwork, mirrors, lamps, lampshades, and ceramic décor should be protected with bubble wrap and/or placed in boxes or crates prior to our arrival if you have opted to perform your own packing. We also recommend that televisions and monitors be properly boxed. The foreman may determine that additional protection is necessary and will discuss options and any associated costs with you prior to proceeding.
- Perishable items such as food, refrigerated goods, frozen items, and other temperature-sensitive products should not be included with items to be moved. Compra Moves is not responsible for the transport, spoilage, or damage of perishable goods.
- Chemicals, hazardous materials, and flammable items must remain with the customer and are not to be included in items to be transported.
- For weapons and ammunition, the customer must ensure all items are secured in a proper enclosed case and handled in accordance with applicable laws.
- We do move plants and will do our best to protect both the plants and their pots; however, due to their fragile and living nature, we cannot guarantee their condition during transport.
Junk Removal Services
- Please ensure that all items intended for removal are clearly identified prior to service. Compra Moves is not responsible for the removal of items mistakenly designated for disposal by the customer or their representatives.
- The customer is responsible for disclosing any items that may require special handling, additional labor, disassembly, permits, or disposal requirements prior to service.
- The customer represents that all items presented for removal may be legally disposed of and are free from liens, ownership disputes, or other legal restrictions.
Painting Services
- The customer is responsible for selecting and approving all paint colors, finishes, and products prior to application. Color appearance may vary due to lighting conditions, surface texture, existing colors, and environmental conditions. Compra Moves is not responsible for dissatisfaction resulting from color selection after paint has been applied.
- The customer agrees to disclose any known surface conditions, including water damage, mold, peeling paint, structural defects, lead paint concerns, or other conditions that may affect the project.
- For properties constructed prior to 1978, the customer acknowledges that lead-based paint may be present. Compra Moves does not perform lead paint testing, lead paint abatement, asbestos remediation, mold remediation, or hazardous material removal unless specifically agreed to in writing.
- Exterior painting services are subject to weather conditions. Compra Moves reserves the right to delay, reschedule, or suspend work due to weather, safety concerns, or conditions that may negatively impact project quality.
- The customer agrees to participate in a final walkthrough upon completion of the project and communicate any workmanship concerns at that time whenever reasonably possible.
Home Installation & Handyman Services
- Customers are responsible for ensuring that all customer-supplied products, fixtures, hardware, accessories, and materials are complete, functional, and suitable for installation. Compra Moves is not responsible for manufacturer defects, missing parts, defective hardware, product recalls, or failures resulting from defective products.
- The customer is responsible for approving installation locations prior to the commencement of work. Customer approval of an installation location constitutes acceptance of the selected placement and mounting position.
- Compra Moves does not guarantee that existing walls, ceilings, structures, finishes, or surfaces are capable of supporting customer-requested installations. If hidden wiring, plumbing, framing issues, unsuitable mounting surfaces, or other unforeseen conditions are discovered, additional labor or services may be required.
- Any modifications, relocations, or changes requested after installation has been completed may result in additional charges.
Furniture Delivery & Assembly Services
- Customers are responsible for ensuring that all furniture components, hardware, instructions, accessories, and manufacturer-supplied materials are available at the time of service. Compra Moves is not responsible for delays, incomplete assembly, or additional labor resulting from missing, damaged, or defective manufacturer parts.
- Furniture will be assembled according to manufacturer instructions whenever such instructions are available. Compra Moves is not responsible for manufacturer defects, product recalls, structural deficiencies, weak particle-board construction, or failures resulting from defective components.
- The customer is responsible for ensuring that furniture and other large items will fit through doorways, hallways, stairwells, elevators, entryways, and into the intended room or installation location. Compra Moves does not guarantee that items will fit through access points or into the desired location.
- If an item cannot be delivered or placed due to size, access, or clearance limitations, the customer remains responsible for the agreed-upon delivery and labor charges. This shall not constitute grounds for a refund.
- Customer approval of furniture placement constitutes acceptance of the selected location. Requests to relocate, disassemble, reassemble, or modify completed work may result in additional charges.
12. Liability & Damage
We take care of your property and belongings. Our crews are trained to handle items safely and to protect floors, walls, and door frames during removal. In the event that damage occurs to your property as a direct result of our crew's negligence, please notify us within 48 hours of the completed job.
Our liability for property damage is limited to the reasonable cost of repair or replacement of the damaged item, not to exceed the total amount paid for the service. We are not liable for pre-existing damage, damage to items in poor condition, or damage resulting from conditions outside our control (such as items that are inherently fragile or not disclosed as such at the time of service).
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of our services, including loss of use or loss of income.
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for personal injury or death caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable Tennessee law.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
Our services are provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the results of our services beyond what is expressly stated in these Terms or agreed to in writing at the time of booking.
We do not guarantee that all items designated for donation will be accepted by receiving organizations, or that all materials designated for recycling will be recyclable under local facility guidelines. In such cases, items will be disposed of responsibly through lawful means.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Compra Moves, its owners, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misrepresentation of the scope or nature of items to be removed, or your failure to disclose prohibited items prior to the start of a job.
15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or our services that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the courts of competent jurisdiction in Tennessee.
Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, you agree to contact us in good faith at [email protected] to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will make reasonable efforts to do the same.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, business practices, or applicable law. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of our website or services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
For services already booked at the time of any update, the Terms in effect at the time of booking will apply to that job.
